Sometimes the link to this page gets shared out on social media and we get an influx of votes outside or our member list. While we sincerely appreciate the exposure, we work hard to ensure our collective donations reflect the selections of our donating members and hand-scrubbing the voting list takes a lot of extra time on our end. Cloudstone Foundation

IF SELECTED:

If selected, the Cloudstone Foundation would use the collective donation towards enhancing the Cloudstone Sculpture Park with a new outdoor classroom and restroom, providing essential infrastructure to support educational growth and community engagement. These facilities are expected to increase annual visitors by 38%, provide the ability to host 25 new workshops, programs, and events annually, and improve the overall visitor experience and park accessibility.

Cloudstone Sculpture Park is committed to environmental stewardship. The restroom facility will be designed with eco-friendly materials and water-saving features, while the outdoor classroom will blend seamlessly into the natural environment, minimizing the project’s carbon footprint.

They plan to sustain the project long-term by incorporating program fees for workshops and guided tours. Additionally, the increased visitor numbers and community engagement will generate support from donations and future grant opportunities.

ABOUT:

Cloudstone Sculpture Park is managed by the Cloudstone Foundation, a Washington State non-profit organization whose mission is to support the appreciation, creation, and recognition of three-dimensional art through curated exhibitions, tours, workshops, internships, and conferences at Cloudstone Sculpture on Whidbey Island, Washington.

Our vision is to enrich the NW region and beyond by providing a destination fine arts park and educational facility that produces 3-dimensional art, an arts facility to enhance public understanding and appreciation of the sculptural process and the work of Hank Nelson.

Hank Nelson's extraordinary sculpture appears in towns, cities, parks, buildings, and gardens across Washington State and beyond. Here are a few of his public installations >

Whidbey Camano Land Trust

IF SELECTED:

The top goal of Whidbey Camano Land Trust's program, Connecting Kids to Conservation, is to inspire island students to develop a deeper appreciation for their local landscapes and waters, foster a sense of responsibility for their community, and nurture a lifelong passion for conservation. The program builds on several years of nature education and field trips that have welcomed students and teachers to Island County forests, farms, prairies, and beaches that comprise the nature scapes protected by the Land Trust.

Working with other community partners and volunteers, lessons will cover topics such as native plant and tree identification, diverse habitats, food webs, geology, soils, water quality, history of the land, storm patterns, the critical role of feeder bluffs and shoreline health in sustaining salmon habitat and related concerns due to changing climate.

A donation from 100+ Women Whidbey would directly address barriers that have been limiting factors for teachers to participate in outdoor education. Costs covered by this funding will include student transportation to preserves and educational materials that will enhance the quality of student learning.

We strongly believe that it is our responsibility to help cultivate a love for the outdoors in our youth as they are the next generation to steward the incredible lands and waters around us.

ABOUT:

It’s easy to fall in love with Whidbey and Camano islands. These islands are truly magical, with spectacular vistas and landscapes including farms, wetlands, forests, prairies and marine shorelines, all providing refuges for wildlife and places for people to enjoy the outdoors.

We are the Whidbey Camano Land Trust, an independent, nationally accredited, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, which has been protecting the best of these islands since 1984. During that time we have partnered with landowners and island communities to help expand county and state parks, protect natural areas and local family farms, increase trail and beach access, and protect and restore fish and wildlife habitat. We practice strategic land conservation that saves our incredible quality of life. Keeps our water and air clean. Provides outdoor spaces to enjoy nature. Protects habitat for our beloved fish and wildlife. Keeps local family farms producing safe food. Helps our local economy by attracting businesses, residents and visitors. And ensures these treasured islands remain as places of refuge.
